We're
all connected to family and social issues
Certain periods in life make this clearer
than ever. Come and share in an abundance of support and advice, available
in this category.
We're
surrounded by various LIFESTYLES
Today's
global village can't ignore a span of cultures, where:
- Women seek to be independent
thinkers.
- Too many women around the world are still seriously
harmed or ignored.
- There's considerable discussion around
homosexual, communal, extended and single parent families.
- Men are asking to become more involved
in early bonding with their children.
Struggling with
stress
Stress exists in the "happiness" of a new marriage and
parenthood, as much as it does in difficult moments of loss - like
divorce, widowhood, chronic illness and injury. There are other
stressful times, when we're overburdened by care for aging parents,
financial upheavals and misunderstandings, that can exist within
an "ideal" family setup.
Hoping for a
baby and infertility treatments
Special mention must be made of stress, where a couple is undergoing
treatment for infertility. Too often seen as a purely medical issue,
it's an enormous psychological burden with serious emotional ramifications
- even after pregnancy has been achieved.
Children without
a childhood
We're constantly made aware of a less-than-perfect world for children
- many of whom have no childhood or teenage as they grow up around
drugs, violence, poverty and abuse.
Youth's constant
exposure to the media
Hanging around the house and watching TV for hours on end, leaves
no time for reflection and inner growth - nor opportunity for a
healthy imagination to develop. Small wonder that eating disorders
and depression run rampant in an affluent society.
Children need to daydream without their thoughts
being guided by violent scenes in a darkened room. Unfortunately,
many young people have never known the pleasure of relaxed reading
and spending quality time alone in a quiet atmosphere.
